What will the UK weather be like for January 2023?

In many parts of the UK it feels like it’s been raining virtually non-stop since October so will the wet weather continue throughout January 2024?

The Met Office has just released its long-range forecast for the month ahead and given some hope that the incessant wet weather will be replaced by colder, frostier and more settled conditions – but there is a but and that’s the fact the weather is hard to predict.

Tomorrow (Friday, December 29) will be windy with heavy showers at times with wind, rain and even the chance of sunny spells over the weekend.

From New Year’s Day to January 10 the south will see periods of rain, wind and showers while the north will get the same, but it will be colder and more wintry with the chance of significant snow where the cold air meets the milder air over the UK.

Then, at last, there is the possibility of more settled conditions with the chance of frost and fog.

From January 11 to January 25 the Met Office says it may be colder than normal which means less chance of prolonged periods of very unsettled and milder conditions with frequent rain and wind pushing in from the Atlantic.

But whatever the weather, the risk of flooding remains ever present and with countless homes and businesses flooded over the last few months now is the time to stock up on flood prevention measures such as FloodSax alternative sandbags which are space-saving to store and quick and easy to deploy so you’re prepared for flooding day and night 365 days a year.
